Capacity Building for Rule of Law Promotion

Objectives:
- Strengthen the links between the rule of law, democracy and human rights through interventions from below
- Development of a network of legal professionals with requisite knowledge and expertise necessary to improve the quality and success of civil society interventions
- Expansion of the knowledge and skills of civil society organizations in order to better use the legal system and policy advocacy opportunities to promote and advance just resolution of selected rights issues
- More active and empowered participation by grassroots in the work of civil society at the local level.
Results:
- Development of 6 ‘legal advisory networks’ and ‘policy advocacy networks’ in 6 target locations
- Development of nationwide network of legally proficient rights-oriented CSOs
- Expansion in awareness and ability of at least 24 legal professionals to work with civil society to promote and protect the rule of law and human rights
- Expansion of awareness, ability and confidence in at least 30 CSOs to work with legal professionals and legal frameworks in pursuit of just resolution of selected rights issues affecting target communities
- More active and empowered participation by representatives from grassroots sectors in the work of civil society at the local level

Overall objective:
Empowerment of youth and CBOs for effective community action
Specific objectives:
- Youth have access to capacity building training that enhance knowledge and capacity for leadership and working in community development work
- Youth and civil society organisations are networked together for effective community action
Results:
- 75% of participating socially active youth are equipped with knowledge and skills for community activities
- Socially active youth and/or CBO members are networking among them using Management English centre resources

Strengthening the Capacity of Community Based Organisations and Stronger Networks

Overall objective:
To strengthen the capability of community based organisations in Taunggyi by supporting to build their capacity such as material capacity, institutional capacity and individual capacity
Specific objectives:
- To facilitate community based organisations in Taunggyi with their efforts to address sustainable development in needs
- To support the institutional and individual development of community based organisations in Taunggyi and stronger networks
Specific objectives:
- Youth groups and CBOs have capacity and skills that enable them to develop proposals based on local needs
- Youth groups and local CBOs set up rules and regulations to promote proposals and report writing skills and run and manage projects smoothly and effectively
- Youth groups and local CBOs have knowledge and skills on training topics to apply to their respective community work
- Loka Ahlinn has a stronger network at the local level to address and fulfill the need of institutional capacity of CBOs and the community
Loka Ahlinn Training Networks for Stronger CBOs

Overall objective:
A capacity-building programme that is effective in reaching and strengthening CBOs
Specific objectives:
- Empowerment of training centre alumni networks to provide multiplier capacity-building activities and start-up grants for strengthening local CBOs
- Loka Ahlinn emerging as a well-managed and professional NGO that provides leadership and capacity-building for emerging CBOs
Results:
- Three Loka Ahlinn training centres (Yangon, Magway and Mandalay) providing effective and practical training programmes
- Three networks of local CBOs linked to Loka Ahlinn training centres
- Functioning small grants programmes implemented through alumni networks around three training centres providing small equipment and start-up funds in support of local CBOs
- Loka Ahlinn leadership and staff adopt strategic planning for organisation and programme development
- Loka Ahlinn leadership and staff are confident, articulate and capable in capacity-building and networking for CBOs
